The Rooms

The exhibition includes seven principle rooms, each specially commissioned for the show and produced in partnership with award-winning curators, artists, and filmmakers, offering a unique perspective on the extraordinary story of Formula 1®.

Tracing the influences of Enzo Ferrari and Ayrton Senna to the unprecedented impact of Netflix’s Drive To Survive series, the exhibition combines an unprecedented mix of historic and modern-day race cars, previously unseen film and interviews, artefacts and interactive elements including racing simulators.

Terms and conditions of ticket purchase

The official and only approved ticketing partners of this show are those listed on the event website ONLY. If any tickets are bought or sold through any other platform or secondary resale company, such as Viagogo, then the event organiser reserves the right to cancel the tickets. The ticket will IMMEDIATELY BECOME INVALID if resold OR OFFERED FOR SALE. The ticket is a personal, revocable license and, at all times, remains the property of the event organiser. This ticket must be surrendered to the event organiser upon request. If you have tickets and are unable to attend the event, then please get in touch with the ticket agent you purchased through before trying to resell any tickets through any of the aforementioned resale sites.

Group bookings

The F1® Exhibition is able to accommodate group bookings for 14 or more people as well as host private events for groups of 50 or more. For more information, please fill out the contact form.

Yes, it is. However: it is a highly visual exhibition that would need assistance for the visually impaired to understand what is happening around them.

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer your companion a free Pole Position Pack due to the number of additional inclusions it has. companions will be granted free admission on arrival (no ticket purchase is needed in advance), provided accepted forms of documentation are presented on the door (See FAQ: ‘How do I book a ticket for my companion/PA?’ for more information).

Guests who require assistance throughout the exhibition are invited to bring a companion/PA.
If you require the assistance of a companion/PA, we ask that you provide one of the following forms of documentation, to be shown on entry. This will act as evidence of your requirements. Without this documentation we will be unable to provide access to the exhibition for the companion/PA.
Accepted forms of documentation include:
A registered “B,” “H,” or “Bl” in your disability ID card.
Please note that the guest requiring assistance must have a valid entry ticket. If the visitor is a child, to obtain a free companion or PA ticket, there must be at least one full-priced general admission ticket in the group.

German and English transcripts will be provided for people who need visual support.

There are no specific SEND sessions available to book at this time. Please email [email protected] if you would like to know quieter times to visit.

There are English and German audio guides for the entire exhibition, except for the Survival room and Pit Wall, which have live sound.

Yes, assistance dogs are welcome. Please be aware that if the dog’s behaviour does not meet the required standards, entry may be denied.
According to the Equality and Human Rights Commission, assistance dogs are highly trained to:
• Stay with their owner and not wander freely.
• Sit or lie quietly on the floor next to their owner.
• Avoid fouling in public areas.
• All assistance dogs must remain on a lead at all times.

OBEX has an accessible toilet – please ask our staff on site for directions.

No, unfortunately we do not have the possibility to lend wheelchairs at OBEX.

Yes, OBEX is accessible for wheelchairs. All rooms are accessible for wheelchairs and an accessible toilet is available.

Yes, OBEX is entirely step free!

Yes, OBEX offers drinks (coffee, tea, softs, beer, wine) as well as a regionally inspired variety of food.

The exhibition is accessible to all ages. However, there is a lot of reading. Parental discretion is advised when deciding if the exhibition will be suitable for your child.

If you misplace something within the exhibition please alert a member of staff and they will try to help you retrieve your belongings. If this is not possible for you, please contact us at [email protected].

There is no dress code but we advise customers to please dress comfortably as this is a walk-through, interactive exhibition.

There is a locker system (for a fee) for customers to leave bags or personal items should they wish to. Bags or backpacks larger than A4 will not be allowed in the exhibition.

The exhibition is a walk-through experience, and we encourage visitors to explore at their own pace. There are limited seating options available inside for rest as needed.

Hand held cameras (including DSLR) can be brought into the exhibition and guests are welcome to take photos and share them. When taking photos, please make sure not to disturb other visitors. Tripods and professional accessories are not permitted.

Yes, there is heating at OBEX if required.

The exhibition will be held in an indoor venue.

The audio for the exhibition is available in English and German. Videos will have German subtitles. Written content is available in English and German.

No food and drink are allowed to be consumed inside the exhibition. You will be asked to dispose of any open foods/drinks before entering the exhibition.
Exceptions on medical grounds can be made but water must be in a lidded/sealed bottle. Please make the staff aware upon arrival.

We accept cash on site, but prefer cashless payment.

Yes. There will be a shop at the end of the exhibition selling many official products and a wide range of exclusive The F1® Exhibition items.

You can also visit the shop during our regular exhibition opening hours without a ticket to The F1® Exhibition.

Two rooms in the exhibition, the first ‘ONCE UPON A TIME IN FORMULA 1®’ and the last ‘PIT WALL’, contain fast-flashing images and lighting, which may affect visitors who are susceptible to photosensitive conditions.

The entry ends 15 minutes after the start of the last bookable time slot, the exhibition itself closes one and a half hours after the last bookable time slot. The visit to the exhibition lasts approx. 90 minutes. You will therefore have enough time to explore the exhibition.

There is no age limit but users must meet a minimum height requirement of 130cms (1.3 metres). (Younger children will not be allowed to sit on an adults lap.)

Visitors can experience what it’s like to sit behind the wheel of an F1 car with official Playseat® F1 racing simulators. The seat and shape configuration mirrors the mannequin F1 driver positions which you learn about in the Drivers and Duels room.

Simulator duration: Approximately 8-10 minutes

The F1® Exhibition is a touring exhibition and will therefore only be in Oberhausen for a short period of time. If you haven’t purchased your tickets yet, we recommend booking as soon as possible so you don’t miss this interactive experience.

The exhibition is open Monday–Thursday from 10:00am – 6:00pm, Friday from 10:00am – 7:30pm and Saturday, Sunday and on bank holidays from 9:00am – 7:30pm. Please check the Fever website or the Fever app for more information. (Doors close 15 minutes after the last session and the exhibition closes one and a half hours after the last bookable time slot).

From audio-visual spectaculars to elegantly curated displays, The F1® Exhibition provides a dazzling journey through one of sport’s most spectacular stories across seven purpose-built rooms, each specially designed in partnership with award-winning artists, filmmakers and craftsmen.

We will have a box office on site. However, tickets may be sold out by the time you arrive at the event, so we recommend booking your tickets in advance to secure your spot. You can purchase tickets on the Fever app or directly on the Fever website.

Official tickets for The F1® Exhibition Oberhausen can be purchased via Fever.

Subject to availability, changes of date and/or time are permitted up to 48 hours before the start time of your experience. In such a case, please contact the outlet you booked your tickets through, indicating your ticket ID. Refunds are not allowed under any circumstances. For more information, please refer to the T&Cs of your booking. Any queries relating to your ticket(s) should be directed to the ticket outlet you booked through.

All ages are welcome at OBEX. Children under the age of 5 get free entry and don’t require a ticket (no ticket purchase required). For children between the ages of 5-16, there are specially priced children’s tickets available. Tickets can be purchased on the Fever website and app.

Yes, you can transfer your tickets to another person for free. Any queries relating to your ticket(s) should be directed at Fever, our official ticket provider.

Depending on availability, the simulator experience can be booked online as an add-on to a ticket purchased through Fever for the F1® exhibition, or on site at the box office. Please note that only one simulator ticket can be purchased per exhibition ticket. As there are limited slots for the simulator experience, we recommend booking tickets online in advance to reduce any waiting times on site.

If you booked through Fever, you can find your ticket with the QR code in the Fever app, within the Tickets section. If you don’t have it installed, you can download it from the Apple Store or Google Play. Remember to log in using the same account that you used when buying the tickets.

No, if you purchased your ticket(s) through Fever, your contactless ticket(s) will be delivered directly in the Fever App or per mail and can be presented digitally.

Prices vary depending on the date and time. Children under the age of 5 years have free entry (no ticket purchase required). Prices start at €14,90 per child (5-16 years), €26,90 for adults (17+) and €61,40 for the ‘Pole Position Pack’.

Since we are in the city center of Oberhausen, the coverage by almost all providers is sufficient. OBEX does not feature a public wifi.

No. Smoking in OBEX is strictly prohibited. There is a small outdoor garden, where smoking is allowed.

Unfortunately, animals are not permitted on site, but assistance dogs can be brought along subject to the above-mentioned requirements. You can find more information on bringing assistance dogs in the answer to the FAQ ‘Are assistance dogs allowed?’.

If you are late or experience any travel issues, please speak to one of our stewards at our exhibition upon arrival and they will try and accommodate your booking at the next available slot. This is not guaranteed.

In the wheelchair accessible toilet, we have also prepared baby changing facilities.

OBEX offers restrooms – ask our on-site staff for directions.

Prams and buggies are not allowed to be brought into the exhibition. There is a small buggy park available but with very limited spaces. To avoid disappointment, we kindly ask where possible for prams and buggies to be left at home or in the car.

The exhibition is a child-friendly environment.

Weapons, bladed/sharp articles, ammunition, explosives, horns, whistles, drums, fireworks, flags, flagpoles, inflatables, wet umbrellas, glass bottles, flammable liquids in any container, laser pens, professional camera equipment, confetti, glitter bombs, paint, paint powder, glue, balloons, wheeled footwear, helmets, full face masks, card readers or any other item which in our reasonable opinion, may cause danger or disruption to any Event or to other visitors (regardless of whether or not such item is illegal or is carried for specific purposes); ceremonial bladed articles, where certain conditions for entry are not met.
Food and beverages, flash photography, prams and buggies, alcohol, smoking, vaping, umbrellas and anything which may disturb the other patrons.
Photography and filming of short sequences with smartphones, handheld cameras or other small devices is only permitted for private purposes. We are happy for you to share your experience. The use of tripods, flash or other accessories is not permitted, nor is filming the entire immersive show. We also ask you to be considerate of other guests.

Advertising/commercial or professional use of the photos and videos is not permitted. If you have such plans, please contact us.

The weather will not impact the exhibition as it is indoors.

It is recommended that you arrive 15 minutes before your pre-booked session time. We have a café where coffee, tea and snacks can be purchased on site to bridge any waiting times.

OBEX is in an excellent location in the city of Oberhausen. Just a 15-minute walk from Oberhausen main station. OBEX is also served by several bus lines every 10-15 minutes, which stop at two bus stops on Duisburger Strasse. You can also get to OBEX quickly with your own vehicle from the A3 motorway (OB-Lirich junction) and the A42 motorway (OB-Buschhausen junction).
