It took more than five years to develop this ground-breaking exhibition, which spans more than 3,000 square metres across seven specially designed rooms created in collaboration with renowned curators, artists and filmmakers.
The exhibition includes contributions from F1 teams and drivers, both past and present and F1 experts as well as numerous artefacts, including legendary Formula 1 cars from different eras and exclusive film and photographic material never shown outside the Exhibition. It combines spectacular audio and video design, insider facts and extraordinary objects to offer a unique perspective on the exciting history of Formula 1.
The 90-minute minute journey through the history of Formula 1 begins with ONCE UPON A TIME IN FORMULA 1®, a gallery of previously unpublished photos, films, artefacts and numerous interviews with the sport’s most famous personalities, taking visitors through some of the most popular and defining moments in F1 history.
The DESIGN LAB gives a rare insight into the development of an F1 race car and shows how the teams design and produce various new components for their cars. This is followed by the DRIVERS & DUALS room, which celebrates the most legendary drivers and memorable moments since the start of Formula 1 in 1950 – including a huge wall with almost 100 helmets, interactive games and a unique collection of other historic memorabilia.
REVOLUTION BY DESIGN is all about innovation and ingenuity, ground-breaking technical advances and designs and the unique power of Formula 1. The next section, SURVIVAL, focuses on Romain Grosjean’s horrific accident at 240 km/h in Bahrain in 2020, featuring the remains of his HAAS car and a video installation with unpublished interviews and footage of the accident: a memorial and an expression of the continuous progress that has been made in terms of driver safety. The exhibition ends with a spectacular finale: PIT WALL is an immersive multimedia experience that brings the greatest and most captivating moments in Formula 1® history to life once again.
With a special exclusive room, dedicated to Germany’s significant contribution to Formula 1, F1 Exhibition will celebrate iconic moments from the Nürburgring racetrack, pay tribute to the country’s legendary drivers, such as Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel and spotlight some of the amazing German women who have worked in Formula 1.
The exhibition also offers visitors the opportunity to feel like an F1 champion, taking a seat behind the wheel of an F1 car. In state-of-the-art F1 driving simulators, visitors will feel like an F1 driver as they try to put together a perfect lap around Austria’s legendary Red Bull Ring.
The Formula 1® Exhibition offers a variety of interactive and educational elements for all ages. It combines history, technology and emotion and appeals equally to families, F1 fans, technology enthusiasts and those interested in finding out more about the sport.
